Description
Job Summary:  Assists in overseeing assigned banquet activities. Supervises room set-ups, service and clean-up of assigned banquet functions. May assist in scheduling required staff for banquet functions. Maintains banquet equipment.

  • Indirect Reporting Relationship: Catering Manager, Wedding Coordinators & Sales Managers
 
Employment Status:  Part time
 
Essential Functions:
 
  • Manage assigned banquets from set-up to break down.
  • Maintain constant communication with event host to ensure all needs are met or exceeded.
  • Supervise assigned staff including proper uniform compliance, break schedules, productivity, proper service techniques and customer service.
  • Manage event labor, sending home staff early or keeping staff later when prudent.
  • Conduct staff huddles prior to the beginning of every event.
  • Maintain communication with contracted vendors to ensure they are following the schedule of events as determined by our Banquet Event Order (BEO).
  • Fulfill the requirements and details of the assigned BEO.
  • Maintains communication with the chef regarding food counts, presentation and service timing.
  • Maintain all banquet equipment including cleanliness and upkeep of banquet rooms and work areas.
  • Maintain attention to detail and consistency in every aspect of banquet service, including food presentation and preparation.
  • Supervise bartender, bar set-up and compliance of bar service as detailed in the BEO.
  • Understand and successfully complete department procedures for “turning” event rooms.
  • Inform Banquet Manager of any employee performance issues that arise within the course of the event.
  • Understand, follow, and enforce all property policies and procedures. 
  • Solve and report all event problems and complaints in a timely and reasonable manner.
  • Understand and complete all assigned duties as instructed.
  • Participate in on-going development and improvement of buffet & event décor.
  • Participate in staff training.
  • Report to direct supervisor on time and dressed for work as scheduled.
  • Maintain and enforce department dress code.
  • Complete Banquet Captain Report at the end of the event.

  • Ability to be diplomatic and maintain relationships with members, guests, employees and management.
  • Ability to be well organized and keep flow of events in a timely manner.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food & beverage banquet menus and pricing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food & beverage standard service practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of basic food & beverage sanitation practices.
                   
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.                                               
 
Minimum Experience:
  • Previous supervisor or management experience preferred, but not necessary.
  • 2+ years of banquet server/bartender experience.
 
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
 
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Frequent stooping, lifting, bending and moving equipment such as tables, chairs and heavy kitchen equipment. 
  • This position requires long periods of staying on your feet without sitting.
  • This position requires occasional lifting of items of 50 or more pounds.
